I have been using Windows xp prof for a year or more on
an athlon 1800. I started to have problems playing wave
files from music disks. They just wernt recognized.
Anyway I just tried a windows reinstallation. It hangs at
about 35 minutes to go in the middle of recognizining
devices. I tried changing the motherboard to fail safe
setting and now.

It boots, goes into windows, says that setup is being
restarted. Then the next thing is a quick sign which says
partly Insufficient Virtual memory . There is more but
that is about all I get before it reboots. I have tried
a safe start in windows but I still get back to the setup
restart.

What now?

Installation problems with MS operating systems usually stem from
hardware failures, so do some hardware diagnosis. Start with the RAM
and then hard drive, and move on from there.
