Hi

That error message could suggest a bad burn. Try installing from the original XP CD.

Thanks Will for your reply. I am using the original XP CD. I am stuck because everytime I boot I get the same message and I don't know how to start over or to create a disk with a corrected file.

My last reply didn't go thru. Thanks for your reply. I am using the original XP disk. Is there a way to import the correct file on another disk? I am stuck and can't even start over with the installation

Hi

I see both of your replies here. It may be better to ask for another XP CD. Ask where you got the CD from to see if they can help with a replacement. If not, try for a replacement CD here:

Thanks again. I am working with a Microsoft technician now. Washing the disk has helped.

Solved Booting From Usb (external Usb Cd)

SOLVED!!

I had that problem installing XP, tried 4 different original XP cd, SP1, base and SP2, changhed 8 CD readers, played around with bios and finally:

USE A USB CD READER.

it works!

maybe the problem is the cd firmware and xp incompatibility with itself, I don't know, but when you boot from usb for installation it worked (for me)

GOOD LUCK
