I need some info regarding attaching a USB port to motherboard without USB
port, how will i do it. Possible?..please help me....

I have P-1 166 Mhz, It doesnt have a USB port connection Now I want to add
a USB port to it, any ideas regarding is it possible.

I mean is there some minimum CPU/motherboard requirement for adding USB
port. Actually I need to connect digital camera to comp which is only
possible using USB port .... So please let me know if any of u guys have
some good idea regarding that ... Also how much it costs and all related
info ..

First, this is a XP newsgroup.

Second, the P-1 166 Mhz will not be fast enough to allow XP to run well

Third, you will need to buy a PCI USB add-in card. Buy a USB 1.1 since
Microsoft does not support USB 2 in Windows other than the current XP or
2003.

Buy a USB 2.0/Firewire combo card and if you can't run W XP
SP1, you can use the software that comes with the combo
card.


But be aware, the money you will spend on a equipping your
very old computer to do photo-editing and adding the USB
will be better spent on a new Dell,Gateway or whatever.
(with the hardware /software you need. $500 will buy a 2.4
P4 with USB 2.0 (maybe Firewire) a big hard drive, lots of
RAM, better graphics)
