On an inherited site that I'm cleaning up, the previous webmaster maintained
all 4-files listed. When I talked to the hosting company, they said all of
these will work (on their server), I just needed to decide which one to use.
The previous webmaster maintained all four because she was led to believe
that she must.. or the site will not work. This seems confusing. I asked
if she experimented with changing one file and seeing if it works okay. She
says, with one file, nothing would update on the web. She says the pages
won't reflect the changes.
I can't believe this. While she maintained all four, I want to know the
best way to remove three of them. I believe they all contain mix code with
portions of code commented out to allow all to coexist. I would like to use
the Default.html but I guess it won't matter as long as I can safely get rid
of the others.
I'm using FrontPage 2003 with extensions. The server has extensions loaded
too.
