IMAP store cannot be created? (Outlook 2003)

I upgraded to the Office 2007 beta the other night, and it would download my
email, but would never let me read it, so i unistalled Outlook 2007 and
restored my Outlook 2003. Everything works fine again except my IMAP
accounts. I can send email by them, but it will not check them for email. I
tried deleting the accounts out of Outlook, and it told me "the IMAP store
can not be deleted. Object not found" but it still deleted the account. So i
recreated it, and got "IMAP store can not be created. Object not found."
then another dialog box "IMAP store could not be refreshed. Please restart
Outlook to continue" i restart outlook and the same thing happens. Any
ideas?

Make a new profile and add your default PST (do not add an IMAP PST) as
well as all your accounts to it. Outlook 2007 uses a different format
for IMAP PSTs than Outlook 2003 and that is making you trouble.

Do tell. In what fashion is it different? Is it a Unicode PST in OL 2007?

Hi Brian,

Yes. In 2007 IMAP PSTs are Unicode. They also allow search folders now
:)
Users told me that when you upgrade a 2003 profile with an IMAP acct in
it, Outlook will ask whether you want to recreate the PST to get the
benefit of search folders and such.

As I am already at it. Here are all the changes to IMAP in 2007:
1. It is now IMAPrev4 compliant
2. New chunking sync'ing strategy implemented so that users can work
with IMAP items as they are downloaded. Synch'ing no longer pops a
dialog that prevents users from using Outlook
3. Enhanced purge functionality including the brand new Purge on
Switch feature
4. Ability to define the Sent Items folder
5. IMAP now uses UNICODE PSTs by default
6. More robust logging
7. Test Account button added
8. Increased security
9. TLS encryption
10. PLAIN authentication
11. Support for STARTTLS
12. Private ID field on SMTP outgoing message
13. Search folders now work on IMAP items
14. Flagging behavior that it tailored towards the capabilities of IMAP
servers
