IE won't start after Windows 98 update

I watched the T.V. special re firewalls and critical
updates. After, I think faithfully, folowing all
directions during the updates Internet Explorer won't start
up. Outlook Express seems to work fine. I am using IE
6.0. Is this connected to the iedll.exe problem ( I
believe from the CoolWebSearch parasite) I am also having?
Any help will be appreciated.
