IE Updates and NOS Security Updates

Hi All,

I'm wondering what the consensus is when it comes to handling updates
for IE, for security and NOS patches and hot-fixes.

I have a network with approximately 225+ Windows based servers, and
about 1200 Windows based clients. I'm wondering what approach you
other System Admins. and fellow server engineers are taking when it
comes to updating your servers AND workstations with the latest
software. Automation would be ideal, but I recall encountering a few
patches and updates in the past that interefered with drivers and the
end result was server downtime.
