IE shuts down automatically on its OWN! Please HELP!!!!

For the past week after about 6pm when I log onto my PC
(using winxp home), I attempt to execute IE v6 from the
desktop icon and it doesn't seem to open. If I double
click on it numerous times, a whole bunch IE's open then
they all close automatically. No matter which way I
attempt to execute IE (through clicking on 'check mail'
within MSN, or under the START menu, or in Program
Files), IE opens up to my default homepage (yahoo), then
shuts down. When I log in under a different account on
winxp home, I able able to access IE. It doesn't work on
my profile (unless I reboot PC several times and then it
may randomly open). Also, when I check properties for IE
under the CONTROL PANEL and change the hoempage from
YAHOO to BLANK, IE is then executable, BUT as soon as I
click on a bookmarked website, the site loads then IE
shuts down again.
-I tried shut down my firewall, didn't do anything
-I updated my latest virus software, no viruses found.
I am stumped. someone please please help!
Thank you,
SMmarco

UPDATE:
I noticed that this problem occurs after 6pm, so today I
tried launching IE @ 10pm and to no surprise, it didn't
open. Then I tried changing my time to 4pm (cuz it worked
@ 4pm earlier today), and to my surprize, IT WORKED! Any
time I input after 7pm seems to shut IE down. Once I
change time on PC to 4pm, then execute IE, then change
time back to 10pm, IE stays open UNTIL I click on a link
or a FAVORITS page, then IE shuts down again!! WHAT'S THE
SOLUTION????????
Going nuts here!
Please help
thanks to anyone that can help.

run a spyware scan with ad aware lavasoftusa.com or spybot
safer-networking.org and update after download.

My IE 6 problems were a little different (couldn't open ANY IE page), even though the browser inside AOL worked fine. After a LONG tech support call with Microsoft testing dozens and dozens of things, we finally uninstalled Norton AntiVirus 2003 Pro. I think I also had a Norton Firewall installed but hadn't used it in a long time since XP has one built in

Anyway, fragging Norton fixed everything. Now I just have to reinstall an antivirus program.
