IE 6 Won't run Java Applets for some reason

For some unknown reason, IE 6 won't display Java Applets
embedded in websites (EG The ones you find on Paint Chat
and Oekaki BBS) It just shows a little box containing some
small coloured squares. I tried changing the Java
configuration in Options, the redownloaded and reinstalled
the whole thing again, but it still won't show them.
Nobody else seems to have the same problem, can somebody
help me out?
