A 'simple' VB script based utility to "Add New Internet Explorer 5
Editor" is available from Bill James

Changing Source Code Editor in Internet Explorer
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=163606

It doesn't list IE6, but it should work there, too.

Hi Frank,

that works very good. Thanks for that. I was trying to find a working way to
do that. I tried to add new keys as
HKCR\.htm\OpenWithList\Dreamweaver.exe\shell\edit\command and the value
"<path to the editor> %1" there as described in
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/d...figuration/ClientReg/ClientRegistryLayout.asp
but that did not work don't know why.
Well, as described by Alan on running the external vb script from
http://www.billsway.com/vbspage/
Norton has found that malicious and stopped that. So I followed your
suggestion and it worked.
Thanks very much for that.

I get the Norton warning about a malicious virus as well. What do I need to
do about this to make this work.

You can ignore Norton.
You can easily see what the script does if you open it in Notepad.
