HP 4670 Scanner Default Settings

Hello:

I just got an HP 4670 Scanner and setup all my default scanning to be
300 dpi and other settings that make things scan the way I want them
to. No matter where I set these settings and even saving Profiles when
I would try to import a scanned image from PaintShop Pro the HP Scanner
settings would jump back to their default settings (the easiest one to
see is the DPI which defaults to 200). I wrote HP about this and they
told me that there was no way to have my my Profiles load when the
scanning software was called from PaintShop Pro.

I didn't like this answer so I went digging around looking for an easy
way to have my settings take effect.

For hours I couldn't find anything then I discovered in the directory
path
C:\Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\Digital Imaging\bbfe\scan\js\
is a file called Scan.js this is the routine called when something
needs to be scanned (from HP software or other software).

So this is what I did.

1) I created a Profile called MyDefaults with all the default
settings I want to load before a scanning.
2) Edited the file Scan.js (this is a Java Script file) and added the
following line of code in the
Routine called exPreShowUI()
3) scanControl.LoadProfile('MyDefaults'); this call loads my profile
MyDefaults

And WaaLa just what I want. Whenever I scan ANYTHING from ANYWHERE my
default profile MyDefaults gets loaded and all my scan settings are in
place before I scan.

I told HP about this and they told me they would try and get me
something official.

But until then this works just find.

Figured maybe some of you people out there might be having the same
problems. So here is a quick and easy fix.

Hi Bob.

I'm looking for a scanner to buy. What do You think about the HP 4670? Is it
reliable?

Thank You very much!
