How to tell if machine was upgraded from XP Home to XP Pro?

I am working on a tech issue that our vendor is telling me the problem is
that the OS was upgraded from XP Home to XP Pro. How can I verify this ? I
searched the KB but was unable to find anything. This customer purchased
software from us but is unable to install it.

Thanks,

Thanks Jerry,

Though I want to know if it was Upgraded. Maybe I'm not phrasing it right.
I need to know if WinXP Home WAS on the machine at some point. Would the
version tell me if it was on there before XP Pro??

We know that XP Pro is on the machine. We just need to find out if the
machine came that way or was upgraded at some point??

Thanks,

Once XP Home is upgraded to XP Pro, one cannot determine
if XP Home was once installed. Anyhow, I fail to see the correlation
between upgrading to XP Pro and a faulty software program not
working. If a third-party application is not working because XP Home
was upgraded to XP Pro, it won't work on a clean install of XP Pro
or XP Home either. Inform your vender to find another excuse as that
one won't fly.

Thanks for the Reply.... I Agree the Vendor is wacked...

For further info they clarified their statement to say that they only
support a Fresh install of XP Pro. They do not support an Upgraded OS (from
9x, W2K, or WinXPHome) to XP Pro.

Somthing about the Version number of an Upgrade Disk Install is different
then the version of a Clean install?

What If I Export the the Registry:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion]
"CurrentBuild"="1.511.1 () (Obsolete data - do not use)"
"InstallDate"=dword:3dda90db
"ProductName"="Microsoft Windows XP"
"CurrentVersion"="5.1"
"CurrentBuildNumber"="2600"
"BuildLab"="2600.xpsp2.030422-1633"
"ProductId"="55274-OEM-0015341-80462"
"CSDVersion"="Service Pack 1"
"CurrentBuildId "=dword:00b4c30d

and give that to the guy??

Thanks,
Scott<-
