How to schedule a task?

I have Home XP. And when I add schedule it doesn't
schedule the task. There's a box that asks for a user
name and password. the user name is filled in, the pswd
is not, and I click Continue to bypass it. but it seems
that if I bypass it, the schedule task won't work. But I
don't know what a password is.

how do you schedule tasks?

You have to have a password on the account that you're using to run the
scheduled task. You can run Scheduled Tasks without a password, but this
opens a serious security hole in XP.

Click Start, Run and enter REGEDIT

Go to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa

Look in the right pane for a value called "limitblankpassworduse" If it
exists, double click it and set it to 0 (zero). If it doesn't exist right
click in a blank area of the right pane, select New, DWord value and name it
limitblankpassworduse. Leave it at 0.

As I mentioned, this can create a security hole in your system, because this
allows other types of logons, besides local accounts, to access the system
without a password. This could make your machine vulnerable to outside
hacking attempts. Use this information at your own risk.
