How to mark up while presenting and bring back those markups

Hi

I would like to emulate with PowerPoint what used to be available when
presenting using transparencies. With transparencies, if a student asks a
question, I can dynamically mark up a transparency with a pen -- I do this
until understanding occurs. Then, the best part -- when lecture is complete,
I bring the marked up transparencies back to the office and enhance the
slides based on those marked up transparencies.

So, is there software or features that allow me to do the same with
PowerPoint? That is, teach using a PowerPoint slide show and, in response to
a student question, mark up a series of PowerPoint slides and, most
importantly, bring those markups back to the office with me after the
presentation is over.

Thanks,
Rob

Annotations is the PPT term for the markups. During a slideshow point the
cursor to the left bottom corner of the screen. A toolbox shows up, one
tool of which is a pen. Click that and you can select the type and color of
the pen - and then just draw over slides. When you leave the slideshow, PPT
asks if you wish to keep the annotatios. If yes, they are kept as shapes on
the slides.

Note: The annotation tool is in PPT 2007 while in version 2000 it isn't;
about 2003 and other versions I don't know.

Very Nice!

Normally, I run my slide shows from a laptop and use plain old laptop keys
for navigation. I wonder -- is there a 'pen' that I could use that would
allow me to navigate the slides AND to draw?

Thanks,
Rob

Thanks for the replies -- I've confirmed the solutions and ordered the pen :)

One more question -- suppose I need to draw something that requires a whole
page. Is it possible to 'insert slide' while remaining in Slide Show? Or
perhaps I have to simply think ahead and insert a dozen blank slides into
every presentation, just in case?

Thanks,
Rob

Thanks Steve -- I got slide-number-enter working, but my 'previous slide'
hyperlink only works statiically -- that is, it always takes me to the same
place, and does not dynamically update that 'previous slide' to wherever I
was. Perhaps there is a 'mode' switch that makes it dynamic, and takes me to
wherever I jumped from with the page-enter technique?

Thanks,
Rob

Thanks Lucy,

I just set up my wacom bamboo pen -- very nice. However, currently, it
seems to exaggerate whatever shakiness I have in my hands -- I wonder if
there is a method or technique to eliminate the 'noise' in my drawing,
smoothing out my lines?

Thanks,
Rob

Thanks Matti,

In experimenting with pen mode, I have trouble knowing where the pen is
because the cursor is a tiny dot, about the size of a pen point. Is there a
way to increase the size of the cursor, or somehow make it more visible, in
pen mode?

Thanks,
Rob

Hi Rob

I'm jealous! Yes, despite recommending it I don't actually own one - maybe
Santa will be kind if I'm a good girl ;-). I would imagine there is an
'options' dialogue somewhere where you could change the sensitivity of the
pen. It may also be worth checking their website for the latest
drivers/manual/knowledge base.
