How to install programs without being an administrator

I would like to give my son rights to install software on
the family laptop, but do not want to give him admin
rights. Is there a way to allow this? One of the software
game packages he tried to install failed because he did
not have admin rights. He is a PowerUser on the computer.

Some software that is not written well, ignoring the
Windows specifications, plain refuses to install with
anything short of an admin account. This is often seen
with games and software from smaller concerns.

If Power Users membership does not do it, then you will
need to install that application for him as the only next
step up is admin. One could try to guess what Power Users
does not have and provide it, on an application by application
basis, but that would be a wild goose chase.

Thanks, I appreciate the response. It is a game that
brought this issue to light, so I think you are right.
