How to format CD, unable to locate

A

Ann Marie

Installed an exterior cd burner and can burn data files
with no problem, however the disk does not get formatted
to read in standard disk drives.

Usually, you format the disk either before or after the
data is burned to the cd, however I have been unable to
locate help articles lending to the format location.

Iomega Zip CD 650.

Would love your assistance.
Thanks.

You do not format CD-R media! If you where to format CD-R media disks, then
the media would not be able to store data because CD-R media is WRITE ONCE
only.

Usually when burning to a CD-R disk, you should have options to "Finalise
the session" or "Leave session open". If you select "Finalise the session"
then the newly created CD should be usable in other CD drives. Of course,
these two options are in the CD burning software somewhere, depending on the
software itself.

You certainly can format CDR media, just as well as CDRW media. They
will operate similiarly. The question is, does the OP really need to
format the media.
