how to disable microsoft photo editor to use windows picture view

When I go to my pictures to view a picture, it opens up using microsoft photo
editor rather than windows picture and fax viewer which is what I want in
windows XP

Do a right click on a file and select "Open With" Make your choice and
tell it you want it to do it all the time.

In the Windows Explorer, you can choose:
Tools | Folder Options | File Types
and the specify the program you want to open the program with.

You might not want to do that right now, though, as there is a new critical
vulnerability in the rendering engine, and Microsoft is recommending
unregistering the Picture an Fax viewer:
