How to change Folder Options to open in same window

B

Brad

The problem I am having with my Windows XP Home is thatthe
Folder options won't let me change the settings to open my
File Folders and Folder in one window. The files keep
reverting to default in seperate windows. One thing I have
noticed is that in file types the original action
was "find" but not in bold so it looks like no action had
been selected. But now if we try to change the action you
are unable to edit the above.

How do I change the action to enable me to open all the
File Folder and Folders in the same window. The general
tab is set to open in same window although the folders
continue to open in seperate windows.

Thank you
Brad

Hello,

Sorry for making this topic active again, but I think my information will be helpful since this is one of the first websites on Google for this problem.

I had the same and exactly problem of Brad and none of the methods cited in here worked.

My Fix:

open "regedit" (Start/Run...)

go to

"HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell" and change the (Default) field to "open" (without the quotes)

Ready!

Again, sorry for reviving the topic, I signed up just to say that
