If your on Be Unlimited and live very near the exchange with a low attenuation then its possible.psd99 said:who the heck has got more than 20mbs?
Thats 512 connection speeds mate, either they didn't upgrade you or they are throttling your connection....and yes they do...what package are you supposed to be on?Well I was on 512kb with AOL but they gave us all a free upgrade to 2Mb . Just done the speedtest at thinkbroadband and my results are
Date 25/03/07 01:27:25 Speed Down 449.39 Kbps ( 0.4 Mbps ) Speed Up 233.18 Kbps ( 0.2 Mbps )
In download speeds that is but a speedtest does it slightly differently.crazylegs said:A 2mb connection should give you 240kbps down...
A 4mb connection will be 480 kbps down...

Abarbarian said:No contract , pay monthly and its only £9.99 . From what I can gather from talking to various BT engineers its the distance from the exchange thats the cause of the slow speed .
V_R said:Ah, have you gota router? Can you find out what your attenuation is?
Even so, from your speed test it still looks to me like your on a 512kb connection rather than 2MB...Abarbarian said:No contract , pay monthly and its only £9.99 . From what I can gather from talking to various BT engineers its the distance from the exchange thats the cause of the slow speed .
No bad really. For Telephone Number *********** on Exchange SOUTHPORT
Our initial test on your phone line indicates that you should be able to have BT Total Broadband with a likely maximum speed of up to 4.5Mb (Megabits per second).
Thats true there are a lot of variables to concider, how busy is the site, contention etc. But speedtest is one of the better ones.muckshifter said:I would treat ANY speed test as a guide and most with irrelevance.
