How do I stop loading of cdfs.sys, parvdm.sys, pfmodnt.sys, faxnt.sys

How can I temporarily stop these device drives from loading:

c:\windows\system32\drivers\cdfs.sys
c:\windows\system32\drivers\parvdm.sys
\??\c:\windows\system32\pfmodnt.sys
c:\windows\system32\drivers\faxnt.sys

not sure why there are \??\ in front of pfmodnt.sys
Actually, a quick look, apparently pfmodnt.sys is missing.
Wonder what it's for...
Something about "PCI/ISA Device Info. Service"
don't know what that is.

Don't find these listed in "Device Manager".

(I did get that Client Server for Novell NetWare uninstalled.)

cdfs.sys = CD-ROM File System Driver
parvdm.sys = VDM Parallel Driver
pfmodnt.sys = Creative SoundBlaster Driver (1 of 4 files)
faxnt.sys = Conexant Systems FaxNT Modem Driver

For all of the file listed, quoted from: http://www.file.net/process/index.html
The driver can be started or stopped from Services in the Control Panel or by other
programs.

You didn't respond to your old post and you didn't provide more info on what
you doing to get these error messages and does this machine has been in
Domain environment or just an experiment gone wrong and you trying to fix,
more info for anyone to be able to help about your Network set up, operating
system version, IE browser and are you secure with Anti-Virus , firewall,
anti-spyware.
Either your machine experiencing a total corruption or you are performing
something wrong (i.e trying to access a drive that been connected to a
different network than the one it is on now1.
HTH.

The startup for those items is controlled at the REG_DWORD Start value in:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\<ServiceName>

Possible start values are: 0, 1, 2, 3, 4

Boot 0x0
System 0x1
Automatic 0x2
Manual 0x3
Disabled 0x4

Be aware that the computer may not reboot if you incorrectly edit start
values of some services and that if the "Last Known Good" start option
fails after editing keys in the CurrentControlSet\Services\ section you
may be required to reinstall Windows.

The services entries can also be changed with the SC tool or with other
GUI tools like Autoruns.

I'm not sure why you would want to disable the above mentioned services,
do your research before you proceed!

Well the problem is a program I've had for a long time, TrayDay,
suddenly stopped working. When I attempt to start it, I get the error,
"Error while unpacking program, code LP5. Please report to author."

Everything else on the computer still works fine.

I reported it to the author and he knows nothing about it.

I discovered the program works fine if I boot into Safe Mode. But the
program does not work if I do a minimal boot (I think via MSCONFIG. I'm
at the wrong computer right now.) The only difference I can think of is
Safe Mode doesn't load a lot of drivers.

Everything appears to point to Anti-Spyware apps with the main contenders being CA
and/or AOL. Many developers that are aware of the problem are suggesting adding
certain files to the Exclude list in the anti-spyware apps involved. I think you
should contact MJMSoft Design again and inform them of the widely spreading problem.
They should then at the least be able to let you know which files need to be added to
Exclude once they look into it.
