How do I set up a new IMAP account to be the default email account

I have been using a POP3 account as default for quite some time now.
Recently I added an IMAP account and would like to use that as my default.
I've changed it to default under the "Tools... Email Accounts" commands
within Outlook and the new IMAP account is shown to be default on those
screen settings.

But it doesn't act like it. I have several 3rd party tools like spam filters
and PalmOS sync applications that are designed to work with the defualt mail
account. They are still referring to the old POP3 account. Same for the
Outlook New Mail Desktop Alert that pops up when new mail arrives.

It seems like there is another step to get the new IMAP inbox to be treated
as default like the old POP3 inbox. It may have to do wit the fact that the
POP3 is in my "Personal Folders" and the IMAP isn't. (and won't copy to it.)

Any sage advice would be appreciated!

Your sync applications apparently work with the default **information
store** not the default email account. The folders for an IMAP account
cannot be the default store unless you use a third-party tool such as the
Insight Connector from http://www.bynari.net.
