How do I restore the default bullet scheme (bullet-hyphen-etc)?

when you hit the bullet box in the taskbar, I get :
bullet-hyphen-hyphen-hypen (only 4 levels instead of usual 5)
instead of bullet-hyphen-smaller bullet-smaller hyphen-right arrow

someone may have altered or erased the default file that stores these
settings but I don't know how to fix that

Stantheman,
Maybe the slide master has been changed. Go to View - master - slide master
and see if you can change it there.

Thanks, stantheman and i are working on the same issue. I've thought of most
everything. Somehow, it seems, that one of the bullet levels has been
deleted. There are only 4 where there should be 5. If I could add another
bullet level I could edit the characters myself. There does not seem to be a
way to do this. If anyone knows how to manipulate the quantity of bullet
levels I am open to suggestions.

If the fifth level is removed, you can add it back in the Slide Master.
In the slide master, click on the textbox to edit it.
Click 4th level. Click again so that the space bar is at the end of the
line(not highlighting the word).
Press Enter so that it goes to the next line.
Then, press tab to indent. Close Master View.

Thanks friend. Unfortunately, this doesn't work either. There seems to be a
value of some kind within the program that has been deleted/altered. I've
tried a lot of things. You get 5 levels with powerpoint for you bullet
points. If there is a process to add a 6th level (you will notice you cannot
indent further beyond your 5th level), that would probably solve the problem

The 5th level of indentation is maxiumum. Don't think you can have six.
You can though, try getting back the original placeholder.
Delete the current placeholder in the Slide Master. Then, go to Format >
Master layout.
Put a checkmark on Text, and click OK.

Something like this should appears:

(o)Click to edit Master text styles
- Second level
(o) Third level
- Fourth level
