How do I make the chart area equal in size to the plot area?

When trying to insert charts into Word I want to align them side by side. The
chart area size prevents doing so. For example, I'd like the plot areas of 2
or 3 pie charts sized to fill a square, but the rectangular chart size
prevents doing so.

As I suggested in my other post, resize the chart area by dragging the small black
square handles. You can make it square or even narrower than its height. This
shrinks the plot area, but you can resize this to expand to fill the chart area. You
won't fill it exactly, because the plot area can't go within a couple pixels of the
chart area. Sometimes it's hard to select the plot area of a pie chart. Imagine the
pie fitting exactly within a square, and click in the top right corner of the
square, just outside the pie. This highlights the plot area.

Jon thanks so much. I found your TechTrax article ref below, and you've
convinced me to use stacked column charts. Still, I'm grateful to learn how
to align the pies.
