How do I get rid of Microsoft Outlook 2003 and keep Outlook Express?

Remove Outlook form the control pan, add & remove programs.

Did you have outlook express running and then installed msoffice which by
defalt installs Outlook.

I'd been using OE, then got a new computer last week with Microsoft
Office Small Business Edition 2003 (defaults to this), but I don't need
it. So, it's okay to delete the whole thing fromControl Panel?

Thanks.

You do NOT need to uninstall Outlook.. leave it on the computer in case you
decide that you might want to give it a go..

Open Internet Explorer.. go to TOOLS - INTERNET OPTIONS.. click on the
PROGRAMS tab and set OUTLOOK EXPRESS as the default mail handler..

Now move the Outlook icon on your desktop to a folder elsewhere..

Job done..

You're welcome, but Mike's advice is good. Rather than getting rid of it,
keep it around for a while in case you want to try it again.

You should be aware that every so often an update from Microsoft will
reset your default mail program to Outlook again. You will need to
go back into Internet Options - Programs and change it back to Outlook
Express.

Microsoft refuses to correct this behavior.

You could also avoid all above and use one of the Mozilla products.
I use Firefox for browsing and Thunderbird for messages, they also have
Opera and SeaMonkey; all excellent products. I personally prefer Firefox
working with Thunderbird. They have excellent Extensions available to the
basic package.

See: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/
with:
Thunderbird: www.mozilla.org/download.html
or:

Good luck in the future
