how do I format the numbers in access to be XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX forma.

I am trying to create an access database and I want to create a field that i
can put an IP address in this format XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX but I dont know how to
do that.

You could use a text field, as suggested elsewhere in this thread, or you
can use four integer fields for the four separate parts of the IP address,
and concatenate them as necessary. For example in a query the expression to
concatenate them would look something like this ...

IP: IPA & "." & IPB & "." & IPC & "." & IPD

.... where IPA, IPB, IPC and IPD are the names of the four fields.

The advantage of the four fields is that you can easily sort and filter and
use indexes on the IP address or any part of the IP address.
