Ho Nionia,

The output from Windows Movie Maker is probably a WMV file or possibly an
AVI file. A common mistake is to think that the MSWMM file is the actual
movie (it is just the stored pointers used by WMM).

If you have the WMV file then save it into the same file as the PowerPoint
file (PPT). Be aware of the length of the path and filename of the WMV
file, the max is something around 120 characters including full path, title
and extension . Once the file is in place, then, over in PowerPoint, use
the Insert => Movies and Sounds ... => Movies from file. The file does not
actually get inserted, but a link is formed to play the movie.

If the presentation will be played on a computer other than the one it was
created on, you really need to check that the movie will play on the other
end. There is no substitute for testing the presentation.

It is also important to check your playback computer's video acceleration
settings. Sometimes, these will need to be set back a notch or two (or
more) to get a movie to play correctly. This is easily done by clicking
Start => Control Panel => Display => Settings => Advanced => Troubleshooting
=> Acceleration. Your click path will almost certainly be different, but it
should be similar.

Now, here is a major tip. Look at PFCMedia. It is an excellent add-in that
makes inserting a movie into a presentation a much less painful process. It
converts your video file into a smaller file that utilizes a common codec
(decompression key). As a result, the video playback is almost certain
(hence the nifty name).
