I start by apologizing as you have probably heard the same cry for help a million times but i am a desperate man at my wits end and i am about to scream , i have had my home page hijacked by a media site called BIG FEET INTERNET MEDIA i cannot ever use google as this site always comes up please help me a currently run spy bot adaware etc but it never gets rid or finds it please help:mad:

No need to apologize. ;)


I would suggest you download HijackThis and then go to This Site, if you can, and run the on-line scanner.

Run HJT from its own folder and post a log here ... we'll take a look and see if we can help.

I have downloaded the software you suggested and let it run a scan.

David, as you can see from the first HJT log you posted, your HOST file had been compromised, hijacked, which was redirecting your browser to that site.


If you do not use SpyBotSearch&Destroy, I strongly suggest you download it, update it, and use the "immunize" button.

Also, I suggest you to get SpybotSearch & Destroy keep your hosts file locked from accidental modification.
1. Click "Mode", selecting "Advanced Mode".
2. Click "Tools" in the left pane.
3. Click "IE tweaks" in the right pane.
4. Check "Lock Hosts file read-only as protection against hijackers".

The ONLY localhost entry should be pointing to 127.0.0.1 ... this is legitimate. I would NOT bother adding SBS&D Hosts list to your Host file ... I see no benefit.

Note that even with this tip it is still possible for some spyware and adware to unlock the hosts file for modification.

Your HJT log is clean of "nasties" but there are a couple entries I would clean also. I like a clean log myself. ;)

Now this little bugger I would clean out also ... Not dangerous, but unnecessary.

MessengerPlus ... third party MSN Messenger extension that adds a number of useful features. Bundles the hard to remove C2Media LOP adware. The software does offer you a choice during setup ... any software that bundles adware should be put against the wall & shot.

A "program" that was useless, so I would un-install it ... AntiSpywareBot


Now, some of mucks' rantings for all our readers ...

McAfee, along with Norton, are utter crap ... while the "infection" you had were not Viruses, per se, it would be better if they offered you better protection ... I will say, no one product, nor a collection of programs, will give you 100% protection against all nasties, but there are a few that come close.

Kaspersky is the market leader along with NOD32 for virus protection ... Kaspersky Internet Security is the best, in my eyes, all-in-one anti-nastie program ... I'll continue to beat the drum, up to you all if you head my words.

:wave: Thank you Mucks i have done everything you said and it appears to of worked i will download the anti virus program you recomend, i only use Mcafee because i got it free through work. I can't thank you enough for your help and i am hooked on this forum site forever now, anything i can do for anybody else i will try to help.
