High number of "Sent Packets" in LAN activity status

Byron Stewart

I am seeing a hihg number sent packets in my LAN activity
status. I have run Stinger .exe and found nothing. I am
having this issue with several Toshiba Satellite
laptops. My machine has been running about 10 minutes
now and it claims that it has sent over 1 billions
packets. And yet I have only received about 3,000
packets. But my Ethernet switch does not show all of the
packets being transmitted. So it looks like a Toshiba or
Microsoft issue.

Any thoughts?????

Even at the highest possible sending speed, it's unlikely that a
network card could send billions of packets in 10 minutes. The
reported number is probably wrong, due to a bug in the network card
driver program. Download and install the latest XP driver program
form the manufacturer's web site.
