High Mat Image Resolution

What would the image resolution be of JPEG's saved to a CD using the High
Mat format when viewed on a HDTV with a progressive scan DVD player?

I have looked at that information already and it does not give any
information on the resolution of digital photos saved in High Mat format.
It says that you can view them with a High Mat capable device, but if they
are going to be at standard TV or VCR resolution, who would want to look at
them on a HDTV. Unless there is someone who has actually done this, I guess
the only solution is to burn a CD with digital photos on in High Mat format
and take it to a Panasonic dealer to see what it looks like on a HDTV.

Did you try the links at the bottom of the article?

It appears to me that it's more about access,
navigation and information than resolution.

You're right - it's all hype about being able to access and navigate your
pictures in folders on your DVD player. But if the pictures are at such a
low resolution that they aren't worth looking at, that doesn't seem to very
helpful. I can currently burn my digital photos to DVD and look at them at
720x480 on my HDTV. I can also burn them in VCD format and look at them at
704x480 resolution. They look pretty good at this resolution. If I look at
my digital photos on my computer monitor which is set for 1024x768
resolution, they really look great. I was just hoping that the High Mat
format might make it easier to view pictures in relatively high resolution
on a HDTV without having to go to the trouble of burning a DVD or VCD. So
far, I have not been able to find any information on this. I'm certainly
not going to go out and buy a High Mat capable DVD player only to find that
I am looking my digital photos at standard composite video (TV) resolution,
which I can do now by just plugging the video cable that came with my camera
into the jack on the front of my TV.

I just found the specifications for one of the Panasonic DVD (DVD F85)
players that supports High Mat JPEG files. It says that it supports files
between 320x240 and 6144x4096 pixels, but that still doesn't answer the
question of what they look like on an HDTV. I guess the only way to find
out is take a disk with images on it into a dealer and see for myself.
