watch out for all the mediaplex and gator syware this site wants to
give you though - currently hunting for an alternative download site.

One which seems to work is gamershell.com.

The one above wouldn't work for me, perhaps because i wouldn't install
spyware.

Thanks for the heads up baron - but would suggest folks explore
alternative links for download

cheers

Alastair,
At what point did the site want to give you the spyware? I just
downloaded America's Army (an over 640 mb download!) from that site a
few days ago and had no problems like the one you mention. However, I
just tried accessing the download link the Baron of Hell mentioned and
got a message that there are "509 users logged in" and to try again in
10 minutes.

I didn't notice any spyware, but I opted to use the torrent to
download the file from bittorrent, may have made a difference, not
sure. Adaware and spybot didn't turn up anything tho.

spybot s and d warned me about mediaplex - when I chose to let spybot
block the mediaplex, I was taken to a page where I was asked to let
gator in.

All pages I was sent to were too busy to download eventually.

Maybe if you get through, you might see the mediaplex warning ?

Not sure I'm clear about this. Did Spybot warn you that you have
Mediaplex spyware installed already and that it was trying to call
out? Or was the warning from Spybot that you were about to get
Mediaplex spyware installed?

The latter - I use spybot in the background - it then warns me if I am
about to unknowingly install spyware.

It told me I was about to install mediaplex - I chose not to :)

I see you're using Forte Agent, so I don't know what browser you use.
If it's IE, then what happens if you uncheck "Enable Install On Demand
(Other)" under Tools/Internet Options/Advanced?

My browser copies both have that kind of thing disabled. In Mozilla, it's:

Edit/Preferences/Advanced/Software Installation/Manage Software
Installation and Updates

I use IE - and have just unchecked the install on demand, as you
suggested.

Just revisited the OPs recommended site - just get page not available
when trying to download.

No problems, got it elsewhere, - a google search found it fairly
easily

Thanks

Hmm. I wonder what's going on? I have my copy of IE configured that
way, just opened it and copied the link into the Address field and
pressed "Go". The page opened right up for me (I feel so "unclean"
after using IE though.)

Glad you found another link. 80)>

I am using there torrent download also and have seen no spyware using
Spybot S and D. I also use firebird for my browser and have spyware blaster
and winpatrol on so that could make a difference.

Torrent was the only one I did not try
