Hi Austin Myers-Another Bouncing Ball question

Hi Austin!

First off, I truly do apologize to all for the direct name in the Subject, I
know this is not really acceptable, and I am really sorry. But, I posted
the questions below to my previous post regarding the Bouncing Ball effect,
and Brian sent me a copy of your sample. I just thought perhaps the original
post just got too far down stream. :)

Please excuse my posting them again here, and I truly don't mean to intrude
on your time.

Hi Austin!
Well, after that post all I can say is, how can I help?

'k....you did ask <bg>

I have never created a project with sound (music), so I don't have a clue
about what type of music I can use. I have been pouring over a lot of the
posts and information that I can find, but, I am truly totally at a loss as
to what kind of music file/source I can/should use. I really feel like such
a Guppy...but, actually, up until recently, I have just been more or less a
line and shape person, and I never had any reason to use sound of any kind
in a PPT project.

Would I be better off to just go with a cassette or CD of a song to play
along with, or a ride along with, or an attached with?
And, if I have a ride along or an attached with, what type of file would I
need to go with?

Now...I'm really confused...I'm not sure if it should be with, or without...
and I don't have a clue as to what it should be with, if it should be with
it. <sigh>

Perhaps, it is just me, and I am seeing what I am supposed to see, but, I am
just not understanding what it's supposed to be.

I would truly appreciate any suggestions or references you might have.

Thank you so much for your help.

Jan :)

Second question: **********************************************************

Hi Austin!
In a round about way.

I did a presentation using the song Old MacDonald to, well, to see if it
could be done. By using motion paths to animate my "ball" and very careful
control of the timing sequence/duration I made a "fair" presentation that
*mostly* did as I wanted. (I hear the other MVPs laughing in the
background.) Problem of course is that PowerPoint and accurate timing
rarely meet in the same place.

Yes it can be done, but you need a very fast machine and a ton of patience
to work the timing out.

I have been trying to find out how to reveal your motion path in your copy
of the OldMac Brian sent me so that I can see what method you used to set it
up, but, thus far, I have not been able to find the way to get the
underlying path to be visible.

Echo advised that I use the Arc, and then adjust it via the black thingies.
But, always being the curious cat I am, I was just trying to see how YOU did
it. Is there something I can call up to see how your path is set up?

Thank you for your help,

Best regards,
Jan :)

Thank you,

Very best regards,

The first question I would have is, who is this presentation targeted at?
If it's for the kids in your class I would suggest using a midi file as you
aren't interested in hearing the lyrics and a midi file is extremely small
and requires almost no CPU power at all. (Midi's are handled by the sound
card not the CPU.) You can find midi files of children songs in abundance
on the internet free for the downloading. Free is always good! (If I
remember right I used a midi in the Old Mc Donald presentation but it's been
so long I'm not certain.)

You can use wav, MP3 and of course wma files.

Yes, this will be for the kids groups, ages 6-9, and the lyrics will be on
the slides. Yep..free works for me too! <g>
The Midi's probably would do great, and I won't have to worry with secondary
needs. I'll hit the 'Net and search out some of the Children's songs and a
few others and see what I can find. I have one I have been trying to
practice with for the bouncing ball, but, I'd really rather work with
something I would actually be using instead. Thn, if I get lucky and it
turns out good, I've at least got one! ;-))

Thank you for the additional info on the sound types, I really so appreciate
it.

Now.....how about the second question??? <vbg>

Thanks for the instructions on how to review the slide animation in your
e-mail reply, and I have gone over all the actions and timing. PPT 2002
sure makes it easier to get a grasp of these things by displaying all the
cast and crew members of the show. ;-)

As you also used the arc for the motion path, this will also be a bit
simpler...as I have been playing with this a little already. I now see how
the motion and timing works together, but...a little hard to tell without
the music though. You mentioned that the Old MacDonald midi wasn't with
what I sent you...and I thought that since it came without, you had it setup
from the outside and not within. ???

Maybe Brian needed it to entertain the other resident MVP? <g>

Thanks again Austin, this will make it easier to understand how it should
work.

Jan :)
