Hi all,
my Hewlett Packard photosmart 7550 Printer.
it is just out of the one year warrantee, and keeps coming up with the
message, "The cartridge carriage is jammed"
how can it be un-jammed except by switching off?
also when trying to print a card made from a card software programme, it
prints off to the top, despite the card/ paper tray being in correctly

other than that can anyone suggest a good top loading Photo quality printer
please.

Thanks for reading,
Mick Cant.

Check to see if the cartridge carriage is jammed by any physical objects in
the way, I've not worked on one of those units but if it cost a good amount
($150 +) and if you haven't worked on any other HP printers or anything
mechanically in consumer electronics (warning on pain in the a** clips they
take alittle to get use too) then I'd say get a repair estimate from a local
tech or repair center. For new printers here's my cheap suggestion,

The Lexmark Z605 at $50 at wal mart is good for some one on a budget and
doesn't print a 150 page paper a month. PC world reviews it as mediocre (but
I trust user reviews more than there's but haven't found any yet) but all my
pictures look great on it as I plan to use it for photos only and text on a
laser jet (I work on monitors and printers and I've tested many and have a
good eye for quality, my opinion not fact). I've heard about the canon iv550
or something like that is suppose be best in all fields in price and quality
at this time, but I haven't had the pleasure of testing one yet. The only
draw back to the Lexmark is how expensive the ink is. Well the best thing
you can do is go through them all one by one and compare specifications and
reviews and pick what's right for you. Good luck though on repairing your
current unit.
