Help! "no operating system found" message

I was attempting to download a trial of Office 2007 and it seemed fine ANd
from a legitimate site. When it rebooted, it gave me the "no operating
system found" message. Does anyone know how to restore my computer to how is
was prior to this "installation"?

Boot with a Windows 98 startup disk and use fdisk to verify the Active
status of the System Partition.
