registry fix but still the only search engine that pops up when I click on
the Search Button is this damn one by "Web Search".. When I click on

Yep, its definately spyware. If you can get the address
of the page its sending you to by default and what version
of windows your running, one of us here might be able to
track down what you have and post a link for manual
removal for you.

Go to http://www.spywareinfo.com/downloads.php#det
Download "Hijack This!" [freeware] or download direct (below):
http://www.merijn.org/files/hijackthis.zip

If you get a 404 error or Access denied, try:
http://216.180.252.218/~spywareinfo.com/downloads/tools/hijackthis.zip

Unzip, double-click "HijackThis.exe" and Press "Scan".

When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log"
button.
Click: "Save Log" (generates "hijackthis.log")

Next, HijackThis | Config [button] | Misc Tools [button]
Click: Generate StartupList log [button] (generates "startuplist.txt")

Next, go to the below location:

Thank You Heather,
Seems the home for this culprit is http://www.websearch.com/ ... I have also
checked in Add/Remove programs for any "Toolbar" programs and there are none
listed... Reason I checked for I see at http://www.websearch.com/ they offer
a Toolbar, I actually even tried downloading, installing and then
uninstalling it to see if that would rid me of it but still no help...

mac, I did get hijackthis and ran it, it found around 5 different references
to websearch, it checked them all and fixed the problems which deleted these
entries, activated google regsitry fix and then ran IE6, first time I click
on Search Button Google poped up, reclicked it to close it then reclicked it
again to open it up again and there was that damn web search, like it just
overwrote the changes....

Have a look in start>run>type msconfig>ok>start up tab. see if you can find
anything like it in the list?
