Hello from me!

Some of the regulars might have noticed that I have been absent for the past few months, so I just wanted to pop in and say hi! I should hopefully be back on much more regular basis now

The reason for being away is illness unfortunately... I've been suffering from fatigue, dizziness, headaches and poor concentration (all of which has meant being on the PC was very unpleasant!). We're still not sure of the underlying cause, and I've been seeing various specialists trying to figure it out. The good news is that for the past few months I've been trying a new diet (gluten free and practically vegan) which has made me feel loads better! Unfortunately, since January my back has also decided to start playing up again so I'm on lots of painkillers - all of which make me tired and sick - so I'm really looking forward to being off them in (hopefully) a few weeks' time. I can sit down for about half an hour now without too much pain, so it's nice to be on my PC again

How is everyone doing? What have I missed? Hope you're all well!

Glad you're over the first problem to a large extent but sorry to hear that your back is playing up. At least you are back online. Hope you're back to normal soon.

Welcome back Becky. I too have missed seeing you online, but like V_R, thought you were probably just busy... so it's sad to hear that your absense was really due to feeling so poorly. Your symptoms sound very debilitating and unpleasant, so it's not hard to imagine that trying to spend time on the PC would not have been very comfortable for you.

I'm so glad the new diet is helping you to feel a little better, and hope the improvements will continue, so that your back also will be pain free very soon. (As someone who is also unable to tolerate medication, I sympathise with the way yours has made you feel.)

Haha it's not as bad as you might think! Even Ian has enjoyed it, which is saying something. To be honest the only thing I'm currently strict with is gluten, I'm not very strict with the vegan thing. I still eat eggs, chicken and fish/seafood every so often. When my back is up to meals out then I think I would really struggle if I didn't have a flexible attitude!

Yeah we thought it might have been that initially, but it seems that it's something else. I'm hoping it's something like my thyroid - then they can just give me a pill and I'll be fixed!

Thank you to you both! The weather has been glorious recently, so it's been nice to get out and about for short walks. Unfortunately I can't help with most of the jobs in the garden, but I can direct operations

Hello, I'm back - again!

So at the start of June my bad back got a lot worse and I was practically housebound for 6 weeks. Had an operation on my spine on Tuesday to remove a large re-prolapsed disc (I had the same op 2 years ago) and feeling soooo much better. I can walk and sit again without agony, hurrah!

I'm limited in how long I can sit down for the next few weeks, but I'm hoping to be checking in from time to time. It's nice to be back!

Welcome back again, you have been in the wars poor girl, I know all about back pain and how debilitating that can be. I am so glad you are recovering from the operation, just take it steady and do the exercises they gave you.
