Headers, Footers and Page numbers gone in Word 2007

I have used Word 2007 enough to know there are several choices of Headers and
Footers and Page Number styles available.....except they are no longer
available to me. I can insert a blank Header or Footer, but none of the
preformatted ones are available now. And I cannot number my pages at all.
When I click on Page Numbers, everything show up grayed out. What's
happening?? Why are they no longer there?

Okay, my son solved this for me, so here's the answer to my question, just in
case anyone else has the same problem:
1. Click the Microsoft Office Button , and then click Word Options.
2. Click Add-Ins.
3. In the Manage list, select Disabled Items, and then click Go.
4. If Building Blocks.dotx is listed, click it, and then click Enable.
5. Restart Office Word 2007.
If it doesn't solve YOUR problem, go to Word2007 help and enter "page
numbers grayed out" in the search box. There are further solutions if the
first one doesn't do it for you.

All of those items come from the Building Blocks.dotx file. In your case the
file may be damaged or missing.

There's an installation copy of the Building Blocks.dotx file in the folder
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\Document Parts\1033 (or possibly a
different number, depending on the language version of Office you have). That
file isn't used directly, but it's copied to a folder in your user profile,
%AppData%\Roaming\Microsoft\Document Building Blocks\1033 (again, the number
depends on the language version) where it can be customized for your use. Note
that the %AppData% environment variable points to a folder that's normally
hidden, so you won't find it in a Windows Explorer search unless you set the
Explorer options to show hidden folders.

If the file exists in your profile, delete it and replace it with a copy of the
one in the Program Files area.
