HDMI and old laptop

Hey guys. I have an old laptop and a graphic card with a VGA output. I need to transfer the video signal about 25 ft to hook up an hdmi video panel.
If I get a converter, does it matter if it sits closer to my PC or to the video panel? If it’s closer to my PC, the hdmi cable would run longer. If it’s closer to my video panel, then I’d have a longer VGA cable.
Also, any recommendations on which converter I should use? Thanks a lot!

As for distance, if you use a good quality cable it shouldn't matter really. Although the converter/upscaler will need to give a good strong signal. 25Ft isn't really that far tbh

I would put the converter next to Laptop and use a decent quality 10mtr HDMI cable to your screen

I have a budget around $200 and want to invest in a quality device, but there are so many brands/models to select from. Any suggestions?
