As others have already said the noise is probably coming from the hard disk
drive rather than the HDD light. This noise could be the first warning that
it's time to get another hard disk and do a complete software rebuild
(install Windows and all your other software and transfer your data) before
it goes terminally dead. The noise could also be coming from the way in
which it is mounted. I've come cross hard disk drives which are mounted in
such a way to allow a reverberation (it is a spinning object) to be
amplified by the chassis etc. Just tightening a retaining screw a quarter
turn or using a fibrous washer may be all that is necessary.
If you really want to turn off the hard disk light, unplug the computer,
take the top / side panel off and trace the wires from the light to a small
connector on the motherboard and slide the connectors off.
Well, I think its not a HDD problem cause its a 15 days old pc. Sony
Vaio RB40. so I probalby will do what bill told me unplug that HDD
light to see what happens. Thanks for all replies.

I have heard some dumb things in my time, but fixing a noisy hard drive by
unplugging the HDD LED takes the prize, biscuit, cake, whatever.. you get no
cigar either..

15 days old!!??? Simply take it back and demand a new one.....at the very
least, you can let the vendor "listen to your LED."
Heirloom, old and think my USB port is
making noise

Uh.......my hearing isn't that good, but, from the 'delicate bouquet', I
would say it is a rear port.
Heirloom, old and needs a 're port'
