Has Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 9 (6Y080L0) got the activity LED attached to it or not?!

I have just got a Maxtor 6Y080L0 and I noticed it doesn't blink when
it reads/writes.
I don't mean the IDE channel LED (the one you find on the case), I
mean the one attached to the hard disk (drive)'s belly, it should be
tiny and it emits a green light.

I can't find it myself because I know it's like any other diode on the
disk board so I don't know which one should blink.

The shop vendor told me some series of the same model have it and some
haven't it (I think he told me that only to liquidate me quickly).

I can't find an answer anywhere, it seems that nobody was ever
interested about this LED. Is it true that some disks have it and
others haven't it? Anyway it seems strange to me.

PS

I don't expect an answer since I noticed it's not such an issue

I have two of the these. No LED on it.

Not that expecting one would help you ;-)

Most modern IDE harddrives that I have come across lately do not in fact
have any LEDs on them. Mostly because they are usually internal, and the
case is closed up so what is the point really? Especially since we have
HDD light on the case.

No, it's not.
Diodes are usually black and SM LEDs are usually clear or white-ish.

No mention of it in the manual. They do mention the possibility
of using the DASP line for an external drive activity led though.

Thanks for your answers. I know now that I don't have a defective
drive. You never know, it starts from a led end it ends with the whole
disk :)
