green screen of death instead of blue screen of death.

does anyone know what the green screen of death is?
this is my first time getting the gsofd in my life time.
i have gotten the sbsod before but never the gsod.
can someone please help me look into this.

i just got it today on my evo laptop.
i usually startup my evo with the multibay battery in the multibay port
but this time i started it up differently.
i started it up with the multibay dvd-rom drive in the multibay port.
the od CD was in the dvd drive as well.
this was the 3rd time i started the evo with the dvd drive in it.
the first two times were when i originally installed the os
and when i needed to restart it after that.
i have started the evo with the ls-120 multibay drive in it without this
error.
how did i get the gsod this time around.
i have reimaged the evo a few times.
this is my most recent image install of xp.
the gsod appeared while the boot screen image was still running.
u know how the pc restarts after the bsod appears, well the pc does not
restart when the gsod appears.

does anyone think they are the samething or what?

A Compaq computer?? It might be your OWN BIOS telling you something.

Over the weekend, I was installing an OS, it froze in the installation,
I restarted the computer. The BIOS told me that the BIOS image was
corrupt (how... if it's corrupt, how did it know it's corrupt?!
well.......). I powered the system off for a few hours, and when I came
back to it, it started up fine -- NO CHANGES to the BIOS! I still don't
know why that happened -- it claimed it could auto-recover via softpack,
but I couldn't get the dang thing to boot until I quit for a few hours.

You might have a BIOS thingie problem whatchamacallit.

Good luck. (whoa! thunderbird didn't highlight whatchamacallit as a
typo! :)

i don't think it is, i alread updated the bios twice....
when i first got the evo, it had a very old version of the bios.
i had to update to a new version via floppy, how exiting.....lol (this
update was like a Pre-recreset to the final bois version. sorry if i spelled
that one word wrong)
then i had to update it to the newest version of the bios but i did not have
to use the floppy that time unless i wanted to....
my evo laptop is like 6 years old.
in the error message i got, it said nothing about the bios, yet i did not
understand what caused the issue.
it was mostly a bunch of numbers and stuff.
when i restarted windows it said there was an issue and asked me if i wanted
to start in safe mode or not.

do u think there would be an error log with the info about this issue?
if so, where would it be?

It sounds like your video card may be loose or not fully in the slot. I
would check my monitor connections and video card connections.

i'm not sure about that but anything is possible.
its an evo laptop, how would i check the video card connections?
its all integrated to the motherboard so how could it come out?

is there an error log for this event or what?

It's a beta of the new Windows revenue stream. They intend to sell
advertising on the gsod, to enhance the user experience.

You can't check or fix the video yourself. Contact Compaq tech support for
repair/replacement. You have hardware failure.

Sorry, my bad because I thought it was a desktop and not a laptop.
Please follow Malke's advice.
