Grab pics from web pages ?

A

Andy

What's the best free software to grab pictures from a web page (even if it
has links to other pages on it). This is to get pics from sites like
airliners.net etc where there are links to links etc.

Oh, and easy to use would be a great bonus !

Cheers

Not always - I tried to print a map and couldn't, the gifs in my tif folder
were some sort of dll, and I couldn't get hold of them at all.

I'm going to try a screen capture with ...sshhh PSP..., I don't know if
there's a better way, so the OP might need screen capture software, or
mebbe print screen would work, I can never work out what that does these
days

Usually, it saves whatever's on your screen to the clipboard, for you to
paste into a grafix app. There's some printscreen enhancers about for
extended functions.

HTTrack
http://www.httrack.com/

HTTrack is a free (libre/open source) and easy-to-use
offline browser utility.

It allows you to download a World Wide Web site from
the Internet to a local directory, building recursively
all directories, getting HTML, images, and other files
from the server to your computer. HTTrack arranges
the original site's relative link-structure. Simply
open a page of the "mirrored" website in your browser,
and you can browse the site from link to link, as if
you were viewing it online. HTTrack can also update
an existing mirrored site, and resume interrupted
downloads. HTTrack is fully configurable, and has
an integrated help system.

WinHTTrack is the Windows 9x/NT/2000/XP release of HTTrack,
and WebHTTrack the Linux/Unix/BSD release.

If "save as" doesn't work then usually going up to the edit/copy function to
capture to the clipboard works.

And a great freeware screen capture program is Gadwin Printscreen, works
beautifully.

For the sites you can't right click on, you can always drag a pic to
windows explorer.

while its not what was being asked for...
The Gimp has a nice simple screen grab utility (or whatever bit of the
screen you want) and is a powerful graphics app in its own right.
just to come back to the freeware thing :)

Andy asks for:
[...] free software to grab pictures from a web page [...]

Like 'Webreaper' mentioned by 'Andy' the 'WebDownloader' is from the last
century, but it works good, of course not for all sites, drag & drop and easy
to handle. Only 210 KB, several languages.
<http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/Vista/2865/download.htm>

Works with many sites, e.g. gets more than 450 MB from
http://maudragon.opalines.com/scans.php?rep=illustrateurs
but also for
http://www.collegehumor.com/?p=movies -
http://nebraskacoeds.com/main.htm
or
http://www.collegedrunks.com/main.htm
