Getting Rid of Search, Getting Find Instead

Laura

I guess I took Find for granted in Windows 95. I've tried
to use Search for six months, and I'm finally at my
breaking point. I can't stand this useless, patronizing
program. Is there any way to get Find back instead?

No. But you can make it look like Win2000/WinME style (works exactly the same just not patronising)

I've attached two reg files that set new or old search.

You'll need to access these groups correctly to see the files
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.windowsxp.customize

And turn on Allow access to attachments in OE's Tools - Options - Security

I use a very similar Find program to the one from Win98
(find.zip, 81K). Very fast but has some Y2K limitations when searching
by date.

I still use the modified XP Search for some purposes, depending on
what I want to do after locating a file. Also, it works well for
finding anything within a compressed program.
