Gadgets not working after turning off 2nd display

S

Scott Townsend

So my 2nd monitor (right) took a power hit and needed to be left off for a
while to get its brain back. In the mean time I went to the display
properties and unchecked the Extend Monitor option so I only had the one
monitor (Left) to use.

There were Gadgets on the 2nd monitor (Right), now they are all in line on
the right side of the Primary monitor (Left). Though they are all underneath
the gadgets that were originally on the primary monitor(left). I cant
click on them hove over to activate the control, nothing. I can move the
original gadgets that were there out of the way so I Can see the gadgets
from the Right monitor, though I can t do anything with them.

How can I remove them if I cant click them?

Hello Scott,

Thank you for using newsgroup!

From your post, I suspect this issue may be caused by the power hit issue.
Therefore, I have to suggest you reset all configurations to the
manufacturer defaults of the monitor. And then reconfigure the Extend
Monitor in the display properties to see if it can help.

So it turned out that when I unextended the 2nd display, the free floating
Gadgets floated to the Right side of the 1st display. It looked like they
were all Docked in the Sidebar, though they were not docked. they were
underneath the sidebar. So other docked Sidebar gadgets were on top of
them. I had to shut down the sidebar, then I could move the gadgets from
the right side of the display to another part. Then relaunched the
sidebar.

So it looks like the default place for the free-floating Gadgets when the
display they were on disappears, is the Right side, which is under the
sidebar app. It was confusing as the Sidebar app is transparent. It looked
like they were part of the sidebar.
