FTP Client Won't Connect After Win Update

I let my Windows XP Pro do a security update today but now my FTP client
won't talk to the server unless I check the "Allow Passive Transfers" box and
another application I use can't connect to it's server at all.

I may have switched on a service that is causing this when I turned on
"Automatic Updates" so I could allow Windows to download and install the
security updates. I've tried turning off various services one at a time (not
rebooting though) but still can't get the connections to work.

I'm going through a router to a cable modem for my internet connection which
still works fine with Explorer and Eudora.

Any suggestions???

It is possible that the update you installed was service pack 2. If so, the
firewall is turned on by default. Check the control panel and see if the fire
wall is turned on. Let me know if that was it.

Dan, thanks for the pointer. It was just the latest security updates but
still, it did try to turn on the Windows firewall. After disabling the
SharedAccess service and rebooting the problem dissappeared.

Thanks.
