Is there any significance to the fact that the latest F-Prot definition
updates (July 22 2003) are not PGP signed?

Which one? There's one separate file for the two zipped
SIG*.DEF's.
The sig for MACRO.DEF (7/21) is incl. in its .ZIP

This one:
ftp://us-1.updates.f-prot.com/pub/fp-def.zip
I don't use any office applications so rarely download the macro defs.

OK, got it
they are signing the zipped package with sign and sign2 inside,
instead of signing them individually then zipping them.

Well, today's (July 28) defs have the familiar form again,
the defs and PGP sigs zipped in same archive,
much easier to verify than to have to go back to an FTP site,
and hunt for the asc files.
Thanks Fridrik

Where do you normally go to get the updates?
(earlier posts are gone)

I just click on the link at the bottom of my update notification,
goes to the main page, then I navigate to the downloads section.
Typical URL sometimes says "randomly get", latest source was:
ftp://eu-2.updates.f-prot.com/pub/fp-def.zip
