I've used Excel extensively, but I'm new to Access.
I think I need a table for each of the following:
Employee names
Employee availability
Work locations
Shifts

Any tips or pointers gratefully received.

Well, that's a good move. But be aware that Access is not "Excel On Steroids";
it's different in structure and requires different techniques!

See http://www.accessmvp.com/strive4peace/ for a good intro to how to start an
Access database.
