Force a complete sync of OST and Exchange

D

Dominic Marks

How can I force Outlook to do a -complete- synchronization of a user's
Exchange mailbox to an OST file? Currently it seems like only a fraction
of the mailbox is copied. Only new messages perhaps...

Help!

It should sync completely. See if you have things setup correctly and if
this behavior is limited to only one mailbox or can be repeated on another
machine for another mailbox.

Also, check the sync settings for each folder. Some might not be set to sync.

If your OST file is not updating or synchronizing completely with exchange mailbox first of all check whether the offline OST file is synchronized or not with the exchange server mailbox items. To do so perform these steps;

  1. Select the folder that you want to check then Right click on it and open properties
  2. Select Synchronization tab here and check Statics for this folder
  3. If the Synchronization process working correctly then the number of items in Server folder contains filed is same as the number of items in Offline folder contains field and if it is not so then check the profile settings of your outlook version.
For updating offline folder automatically whenever you are online and every time you exit outlook. Perform these steps
  1. Click tool and select Option
  2. Click the Mail Setup tab
  3. Check Send immediately when connected checkbox in Send/Receive section
  4. Then click Send/Receive, Send/Receive dialogue box prompted check that the Perform an automatic send/receive when exiting option is selected.
  5. Click close and ok
