Folders Explorer Bar not displaying folders

F

Fritz

When I start Windows Explorer, the folder list in the left pane is empty
(gray), when I switch the view to Search, History or Favorites, everything
shows up fine - when I switch back to Folders, it's grayed out again. My
guess is that one of the registry settings got mangled. Does anyone know
which one?

Thanks in advance! :)

Yes, I've seen the article before but it applies to Windows 95 and 98. Win
2000 and XP don't seem to have that reg key at all.

Hi Fritz,

See if this helps:

Open Regedit and navigate to:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Explorer
Bars\{EFA24E64-B078-11D0-89E4-00C04FC9E26E}

Backup the key, and in the right-pane, delete the "BarSize" registry value.
If that does not help, export this registry key and post here:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\{EFA24E64-B078-11D0-89E4-00C04FC9E26E}

Deleting BarSize didn't do it. I'm assuming the key you wanted me to post
is this:

The REG looks OK, and I'm running out of ideas. Only option that I can think
of is a System Restore rollback, if the problem is seen as of recent.

Fritz,

Don't have a Windows 2000 system here. But, IIRC, there was a different
module involved. IE repair might help.
