Folder redirection

I had a folder redirection policy it was set to return the
items to the original folder if the policy was removed. I
removed the policy for all redirections but the desktop
stay redirected. No problem at all with the My Documents
folder or the application data only with the desktop.

Did you remove the GPO or did you just set the redirection policy to 'not
configured'? In the letter case folders will stay where they are. The
redirection back to the local userprofile location on policy removal works
in following cases:

1. GPO which made the redirection was deleted
or
2. The link from GPO to the container was deleted
or
3. GPO was filtered out using either security filtering (ACLs on GPO) or WMI
filtering
or
4. User was moved to another OU, not affected by the GPO.
