Folder Hierarchy/Running SCANPST.EXE automatically

O

Ole Weigelt

Hello Everybdy,

I am using Outlook 2003 (IMAP) together with an MDaemon Mailserver. I have
permanent Problems with the folder hiearchy. At least twice per day, the
hierarchy is corrupted and I can see all my Tasks, Calendar items, Contacts
as email, or I get a nice calendar view of my contacts.

SCANPST.EXE tells me that it has found errors in the folder hierarchy like:

**Beginning PST/OST recovery

**Attempting to recover all top-level objects

**Attempting to walk all folders

!!Hierarchy Table for 122, row doesn't match sub-object:
irow = 0, RowID = 2223

**Attempting to locate any orphaned folders/messages

**Attempting to check top-level objects for consistency

??Deleting SDO

**Updating folder hierarchy

**Attempting to fix original file

and the fix works (for the next few minutes or hours).

Does anybody know about this problem or can give me some hint to fix it?

Or can I just run SCANPST.EXE in Batch-Mode to fix all .pst-Files during
night or lunch-break?

Thanks for reading my problem

The best way to repair a PST file is to export it into a new one, provided
that you can still read it.

If scanpst does not help, there are several other tools to repair a damage
pst file:

* www.ontrack.com offers a repair application for about 200-300 USD
* PST19UPG.exe (search it with google) is a dos programm which copies pst
files into a new format removing errors and passwords.
* Export the PST file into a new one. If Outlook stops due to an error, you
may use our CopyPST application (www.outlookfolders.com).
* Ontrack and others offer PST repair service.

It would be nice if your download page were in English, with an English
version of this tool. The link to CopyPST.zip appears to point to a German
version.
